Leaving the Dolmabahçe Palace and walking along the shoreline we get to the Beşiktaş Square. This is one of the first settlements along the Bosphoms. There are a few historical places and two important museums to visit in this district. These historical places are the tomb of Admiral Hayrettin Pasha and the Sinan Pasha Mosque to the opposite, Both the mosque and the tomb were constructed by Architect Sinan. The mosque has a single minaret and 42 windows and was dedicated to Sinan Pasha, the admiral of Süleyman the Magnificent. Near the tomb İs the Barbaros Monument made of marble and bronze in 1944. The height of this monument is 4.5 m. The first museum in Beşiktaş is the Fine Arts Museum inside the Dolmabahçe Palace and the other is the Maritime Museum. There was the Finance building on the site of the Maritime Museum until 1961. The museum includes objects, models, cannons, maps and uniforms belonging to the Ottoman Armada. Besides, there are three Orthodox and Armenian churches inside the Beşiktaş Bazaar. Moving along the shoreline,, there is the Yıldız Park, a large wood. It was renowned with its laurel trees during Byzantine era. The Ottomans used this forest as an entertainment place and afterwards it was included within the Yıldız Park and villas were constructed with the order of Abdülhamid II. Opposite to the park, there is an magnificent structure. Çırağan Palace, built in the 19rh century and now is the Çırağan Palace Kempsinki Hotel. (s4)
